All new patients will require a recent OPG x-ray unless specifically indicated. If you do not have a current x-ray one can be arranged for you. Please inform our staff at the time of making your booking.
All new patients are required to complete a detailed medical history summary prior to their consultation. We recommend patients bring a list of their medications, past medical history and contact details for other healthcare professionals they may see. Surgery
Day surgery is performed on a majority of patients undergoing minor oral surgery. It enables you to be discharged home after minimally invasive oral procedures. It can involve different degrees of anaesthesia either local, intravenous sedation (twilight anaesthesia) or general anaesthesia. These procedures can be performed at the Essendon Day Procedure Centre or in a hospital where your surgeon has visiting rights. Arranging your surgery requires a degree of preparation which will be detailed at your initial consultation.
Procedures requiring local anaesthetic or sedation only are performed at the Essendon Day Procedure Centre. Your surgeon will advise what anaesthetic and hospital location best suits you.
Procedures requiring general anaesthetic are performed at the Hobson Healthcare Day Surgery in Sydenham, John Fawkner Private Hospital, Western Private Hospital, Seymour District and Memorial Hospital, Sunbury Day Hospital, Hospital, Freemasons and Epworth Private Hospitals.
Hospital Information
Patients requiring surgical treatment at the Essendon Day Procedure Centre or any one of the other hospitals listed above will be provided with hospital specific information brochures or access to the hospital website.
